Kay + Allan | The Maynard

Having known Kay for a long time it was lovely to be able to document Kay + Allan’s wedding day. We were graced with some wonderful Autumnal weather and thankfully the forecast stayed fine for everyone on what would prove to be a freakishly warm weekend for October.

I started the day with Kay and the girls in the Don Bradman suite of The Maynard where everyone was getting ready. Especially great to see Beth there as a bridesmaid who’s wedding I photographed a few years ago with Kay being bridesmaid for Beth and Paul back then. Everyone was super chilled as always but there were a couple of emotional moments especially when Kay’s dad saw her all ready in her wedding dress for the first time.

Their ceremony in the Chatsworth Suite was delightful and the aisle lined with candles just set the scene for Kay’s entrance. Thankfully after walking down the aisle Allan’s best man earning his stripes making sure the dress stayed off the candles without any fuss! Allan looking very pleased to see Kay, it was written all over his face and plenty of emotion during the ceremony from Kay too. Their closest friends and family were lucky enough to witness a wonderful ceremony and then give them both a brilliant confetti walk which you could see these guys loved.

After hugs and kisses from everyone we took some group photos before whisking off to Padley Gorge where we got some beautiful couples portraits. It was very quiet down at Padley which was great as it left us with pretty much the whole place to ourselves, Kay and Allan were well up for having a wonder down to the little bridge for some photos in the wonderful dappled light of the trees. Back to the car for Allan’s dad to do a fab job of chauffeuring us all back to The Maynard.

Kay and Allan had booked a surprise for all the guests during the meal which went down an absolute storm with everyone. The one and only Undercover Waiters put on an exciting performance and got the whole room involved in a giant conga and a bit of a sing off with the boys versus the girls. Allan casting the winning vote to the boys of course!

After the guys had finished and the pudding had been served it was time for the speeches which everyone did a great job of. After the guests had enjoyed some downtime in the bar while The Maynard staff turned the room around it was time for the cutting of the cake and the dancing to begin.
